Pins at the Contemporary!

Had to make a trip to the Contemporary Resort this afternoon and just for grins I thought i’d poke my head in the door at the 4th floor arcade to see if there was a Tron there.. sure nuff, there was!

Just as it happened, i walked in while the pin tech was there servicing the 4 pins they  have.  I finally got the chance to ask the question, why are the pins always so dirty at disney?   Well, the answer was rather surprising.  Just to put it all in perspective, the tron had been there 3 weeks total and the playfield was black.  It looked TERRIBLE.  IF you’ve ever seen a long time routed game you know what I mean, ball marks everywhere really nasty.   Well, knowing full well the game has only been available a couple months I was thinking for sure it’s never been so much as looked at much less cleaned.  The guy doing the work was pretty open and told me they get regular glass off cleanings which he was actually there doing on all 4 pins.  The dirt I was seeing was from TWO WEEKS only.  It seems that the games get an absolute ton more play than I ever imagined.  When he was done the game looked great again, he used millwax to clean it up and everything but I was stunned to realize just how dirty  the pin was in such a short period of time.  Really puts it in perspective.

Well, that’s a short story of course, but there’s now a verified new place to play some pinball with some pretty well kept machines including TRON!

Thanks for sharing this. Sounds like they get more play that I would have imagined.

Although, I had to Google Contemporary Resort to figure out that it is part of DisneyWorld. That knowledge gave the story more context. :-)
